What Is IEMT?

Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) is an eye movement technique similar to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitising and Reprocessing Therapy).

It is a therapy that uses simple eye movements and questioning techniques to change a particular thought pattern or memory that may be problematic for you.

IEMT techniques help to create change by quickly reducing unwanted feelings to help you to resolve issues.

IEMT is content free, there is no need to talk about your experiences as long as you can feel the emotion, I can work with you.

How Does IEMT Work?

Moving your eyes in certain ways appears to link to the part of your brain that stores memories and emotions. This can lead to the rapid release of unwanted feelings and emotions resulting in a positive reframing of the memory or thought pattern. The problematic memories or thought patterns no longer hold the intense and negative emotions once associated with them. It can also be used to explore neurological imprints associated with identity.

What To Expect

In the initial consultation we will have discussed your case history, what you’d like to achieve and how I can help you with this.

We address unwanted feelings and emotions, and this helps to release you from negativity in the past. We then move onto identity, how you see yourself and how you react with others.

Issues IEMT is Effective For

IEMT can be extremely effective in tackling anxiety, stress, negative and unwanted emotions, fears, guilt, regret, remorse, shame, fear and anger issues, bad memories, undesired identity traits, past traumas, and PTSD.

IEMT Is Content Free

IEMT is particularly suited to helping male and teenage clients because it is content free. There is no need to talk about your experiences, if you can feel the emotion, the work can begin.

IEMT & Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD)

In the specific application of trauma recovery and PTSD, experience shows that the application of specific eye movement therapies can be particularly effective with regards to intrusive imagery and “flashback” phenomena.

The method involves holding the problematic imagery in mind whilst the eyes are moved in different directions.

The result of this is often that the imagery loses its emotional impact and becomes far less disturbing. The therapeutic model of EMDR is also built on this principle.

How Many Sessions?

The number of sessions required will depend on the issues you are working through. I like to use the least number of sessions possible enabling you to expediently move on with life. IEMT can usually be completed in 2-3 sessions, but this may vary.

Where Are The Sessions Conducted?

I work from a beautiful old farmhouse in Rampton on the Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire border where I have a peaceful and relaxing consulting room.

There are gorgeous soft leather sofas to sink into and unwind from the pressures of everyday life.

It is preferable that you come to me knowing that you will be away from all the distractions of work and home.

If it is necessary due to ill health or transport issues, I can offer home visits. Please contact me to discuss this option.

Self-Help

The final phase of the therapy will empower you with strategies and techniques to protect the work already done and strengthen you to move forward independently.
